What we collect
When you send the form on our Consult page, we collect:
- your name
- your email address or WhatsApp number
- the country you live in
- the area you are interested in and when you are thinking of coming
- anything you choose to write in the note
- whether you are arranging this for a family member
We ask you not to include medical details in that form.
Only after we reply, and only through a secure link, we may ask for health information, documents and the contact details of family members you want us to update. We ask for your separate, explicit consent before collecting any of this.
With your consent, our website uses Google Analytics cookies to understand how pages are used, such as pages visited, device type and approximate location. No analytics cookies are set until you agree.
Why we use it
- to reply to your inquiry
- to suggest suitable clinics from our partner network and coordinate your visit
- with your separate consent, to share the details a clinic needs with that clinic
- with your consent, to keep a family member you name updated on your progress
- with your consent, to measure and improve how our website works
- to meet our legal obligations as a registered foreign patient facilitator
Health information
Health information is sensitive. We collect it only with your separate, explicit consent, only through the secure link, and only what is needed for the clinic to prepare for your visit. You can refuse, but we may then be unable to arrange treatment.
Who we share it with
- Partner clinics: only the clinic you choose, only with your separate consent, and only the details it needs. We tell you the clinic’s name before sharing anything.
- Family members: only the person you name, only with your consent, and only updates on your progress.
- Service providers that help us run the service, such as our website and email host and, with your consent, Google Analytics. If you contact us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s own terms also apply.
Some of these providers store data outside Korea. Where that happens we rely on your consent or other safeguards permitted by law. We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
If your inquiry does not go further, we delete your details one month after our last contact. If we arrange your visit, we keep your records for one year after your clinic visit and then delete them, unless Korean law requires us to keep a particular record for longer, in which case we keep only that record, only for that period.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, ask us to stop using it, or withdraw consent at any time. Email withyou@whereinseoul.com. We respond within the period set by Korean law. Withdrawing consent does not affect what we did before you withdrew it.
Keeping it safe
Access is limited to staff who need it to help you. Health information is collected only through a secure link, and data is encrypted in transit.
Cookies
We use cookies needed for the site to work. Analytics cookies are set only if you agree, and you can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
People under 18
Inquiries about a person under 18 must be made by a parent or legal guardian. Aesthetic treatments are for adults aged 18 and over.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Personal Information Protection Commission of Korea or the Personal Information Infringement Report Center (privacy.kisa.or.kr, call 118 in Korea). You may also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
